Grillin n Chillin SIGN UP DEADLINE

First-ever Grillin N Chillin at The Fields set May 31-June 1 ... click on the icon above to go to our official site.

On Tuesday, May 16, the voters of Waynesboro overwhelmingly approved a 1 cent tax on each dollar spent on prepared foods, on-premises liquor and beer purchases and hotel-motel stays.

The effort to seek the parks and recreation tax began in January when the Waynesboro Board of Aldermen petitioned the Mississippi Legislature to seek local and private legislation allowing voters to say whether or not the measure would be adopted.

The law required no less than 60 percent of registered voters within the city to approve the tax for the act to go into effect. In Tuesday's vote, 87 percent of those that went to the polls said yes to the assessment.

These funds will boost our short- and long-term efforts to develop The Fields of Waynesboro and improve other public parks throughout the city.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to build The Fields, and be watching for how we plan to utilize these valuable dollars in moving forward.

The first-ever Grillin N Chillin at The Fields -- an opportunity for back-yard grillers to form a team and prepare their chicken, pork rib and pork loin specialties for cash prizes -- is set for Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1 at The Fields of Waynesboro sports complex.

The event will also feature a classic car, truck and motorcycle show along with a cornhole tournament. Non-food vendors are being sought to take part in the event that will be held at The Fields of Waynesboro, located at 1515 Azalea Drive in Waynesboro.  NOTE: WE HAVE REACHED OUR QUOTA FOR FOOD VENDORS AND NO ADDITIONAL APPLICATIONS FOR FOOD VENDORS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Welcome to The Fields of Waynesboro

The Fields of Waynesboro soccer fields

The Fields of Waynesboro soccer fields were constructed in late 2018

The Fields of Waynesboro is the 21st Century recreational sports facility for Waynesboro and Wayne County, Mississippi, as well as surrounding communities and counties in Southeast Mississippi and Southwest Alabama. Located on Azalea Drive (Mississippi Highway 184) in Waynesboro, this almost 90-acres site will ultimately become home to eight baseball-softball fields, seven soccer fields, walking tracks and playgrounds to name some of the amenities planned. Thanks to the financial generosity and in-kind construction support of community benefactors, businesses and industries, two regulation soccer fields have already been constructed with more improvements on the way. We invite you to join in our efforts to build something unique in Southeast Mississippi -- a venue that will draw together families and communities.
